Dr. Zachary Bissell

Dr. Zack Bissell is the owner and medical director at Sandbridge Veterinary Center.

Dr. Bissell is a native of Virginia who was raised in Virginia Beach. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. He worked at N.C. State's Veterinary Teaching Hospital while earning his Animal Science degree.

Dr. Bissell attended the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville where he met his wife, Kelli. After graduation he returned to Virginia Beach to work as an associate veterinarian with his mentor. Zack and his family have been in the Jacksonville area since 2006.

Dr. Bissell is a member of the Jacksonville Vetinary Medical Society (JVMS), Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). He is a USDA-accredited veterinarian. Dr. Bissell was a two-time recipient of the FVMA student scholarship which is awarded to small animal students who are dedicated to forwarding veterinary medicine's future. Dr. Bissell's professional interests include internal medicine, preventative medicine, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. He especially enjoys getting to know his patients and their families and practicing high quality, individualized medicine for all of his patients.

In his free time Dr. Bissell enjoys surfing and fishing at the beach, wildlife photography, attending UF sporting events and spending time with his wife Kelli and their 3 children. He and his family also enjoy spending time with their extended family and all of their beloved pets which includes 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 3 lizards.
